Could it be Trauma?

Supporting Kids on the Road to Recovery

A three-hour training applicable for anyone working directly or indirectly with children and youth.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recently declared a national emergency in children’s mental health as a result of a decade’s worth of compounded trauma following the pandemic.

This three-hour evidence-based pediatric trauma-informed practice training is designed to provide professionals with the unique opportunity to learn how to identify the effects of trauma in children and help them on a path to healing. It is applicable to anyone working directly or indirectly with children and youth including educators K-12, mental health professionals, foster parents, healthcare workers, and staff with child-oriented agencies.

This Professional Development Activity is approved by Texas Psychological Association (TPA): Three hours of Professional Development credits for psychologists, licensed specialists in school psychology, licensed psychology associates, social workers, and counselors.

Upon completing this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Name three types of trauma
  2. Identify ways traumatic stress shows up in children’s behavior
  3. Describe the kinds of developmental impairments children may suffer as a result of trauma
  4. Name three avenues for recovery for trauma survivors
  5. Identify strategies to help children promote an inner sense of safety
  6. Describe various ways to apply these strategies
