When We Heal An Abused Child, We Heal Our Community

The parents, guardians and caregivers for children who are suffering from abuse are the closest adults who can help the healing. The trauma of child abuse is complex and can be misunderstood, even to the adults closest to them. When left untreated, the consequences can last a lifetime.

TraumaTALKS for caregivers provide an overview of childhood trauma, helping caregivers understand the science behind the feelings and its signs and symptoms. Caregivers will also learn why it’s critical to help abused children heal from trauma and what are the latest and best practices in helping the children in their care recover.

Many of our TraumaTALKS are provided by Chester Street Foundation’s founder, Shawn Alex Nemeth, who will also share his personal story and sign copies of his book, Thorns of Chester Street, for people who make donations to the Chester Street Foundation.

TraumaTALKS for caregivers are offered in public and private venues.
