Sexual abuse by camp counselors is a national epidemic, according to various organizations, including Crime Stoppers. Every year, nearly 10 million children attend summer camp. In 2018, CBS news examined data on sexual abuse at camps for children throughout the U.S. The investigators found reports of more than 500 instances of child sexual abuse over the past 55 years.
